James Kritikos
Director of Choirs

James Kritikos is in his fifth year as the Head Choir Director at Klein Oak High                                                         School. Prior to his appointment at Klein Oak, Mr. Kritikos was the first director at                                                       Canyon Lake High School in San Antonio for eight years. From the school's                                                                 inaugural year until his departure for Klein Oak, Mr. Kritikos grew the choir program                                                   from 15 brave students to over 160 students enrolled in his classes,                                                                             building the program from the ground up. Mr. Kritikos' choirs have consistently                                                           received sweepstakes at UIL Concert and Sightreading Contests, and many of his                                                     students have placed and participated in the TMEA All-State Choir. Choirs under                                                       his direction have toured all across the country, from singing on the steps of the                                                         Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, to performing at Disneyland in Los Angeles,                                                     CA. Mr. Kritikos is also an avid performer, singing competitively with barbershop                                                       quartets in Montreal, Canada, Louisville, KY and Salt Lake City, Utah.

As a professional director outside of school, James specializes in directing men's                                                     barbershop choirs, which has taken him to direct across the southwest.  Two of his  choirs on two separate occasions had the opportunity to perform on stage with the rock group, Foreigner!

Mr. Kritikos has a Bachelor’s of Music Education from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where he studied with Dr. Kenneth Fulton. Mr. Kritikos is a member of American Choral Directors Association,Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, and Texas Choral Directors Association.
